Course description

Taha Hussein was probably the most important Arab intellectual in the 20th century. Though  blind , he reached the highest level in literature, essays, translation and many more fields. We shall mainly focus on his national, social, religious and cultural ideas( usually described as Western- Liberal) but also taste from his literary achievements. We shall try   as well to understand how academic scholars view his work, and how his work was accepted by various types of readers, in his lifetime, and since his death.
