Course description

Course Objectives: Conceptual and thematic discussion of the notion Human Nature.

Course Topics: Various Concepts of Man in the history of philosophy, such as Plato's and Aristotle's of Ancient Philosophy, Descartes', Hobbes', Rousseau's and Kant's of Modern Philosophy, Hegel's, Kierkegaard's, Marx', and Nietzsche's of the 19-Century Philosophy. The specific subjects will be decided at the beginning of the semester according to the interests of the students.

Method of Teaching: Introductory lectures, referat lectures of students, guided reading, classroom discussion and personal tutoring for writing seminar papers.

A Bibliography of primary and secondary literature will be distributed at the beginning of the semester.

Student Assignment: A seminar or referat paper.
