The aim of the course is to provide basic acquaintance with major trends of Indian philosophy. We will embark together on a “road-trip” between texts and thinkers, from the Vedas and the Upanishads to the great epics, the sūtras, Buddhism and yoga, classical and contemporary ethics and aesthetics, and even old philosophical questions in contemporary Hindi cinema ("Bollywood"). Furthermore, this course aims at opening a gate to "alternative" ways of thinking, based on different models of logic and rationality. In this respect, the course consists of a substantial comparative (India/West) dimension.
