The workshop is for the study of topics in the Babylonian Talmud which deal with aspects of Jewish law and lore
The studies combine the traditional learning of the "beth midrash" with academic critical study. In the first part of each session we shall study a specific Talmudic text in small groups. The second part of the session is devoted to a lecture\debate to summarize the topic treated in the session.
The workshop is suitable for students without a background of Talmudic studies, and it is intended to impart the primary skills to cope with the various aspects of Talmudic texts.
