The course deals with key issues in the study of society in Israel. The topics that will be discussed include the Arab-Israeli conflict, immigration and intra-Jewish ethnicity, religion and secularism, economy and stratification, and the formation of state institutions and citizenship. The course will put a special emphasis on the social, political and demographic changes since the 1990’s and the way contemporary Israel has been integrated into and shaped by globalization.
