Course description

This proseminar focuses on elections in Israel from a theoretical and comparative perspective, using both a cross-national and longitudinal point of view. We will discuss the importance of elections in democracies, electoral systems and reforms in electoral system, party systems and political communication in elections, the decline in voter turnout and its ramifications, elections under terror and war, groups and cleavages in elections, and electoral behavior. We will read uptodate research on the most recent elections, and each student will prepare his/her research proposal within the area of elections in Israel . The research will be presented and discussed in class.
