Course description
During the semester we will examine main characteristics of political philosophy in modern era, while discussing key concepts, theories and philosophers. The first half of the semester will be dedicated to confront the promethean spirit spreading from the age of enlightenment, through Hegel's dialectics, Marx's materialism, Mill's utilitarianism, ending in totalitarian ideologies of mid twenty's century. The second half of the course will dwell on the metamorphosis of the mentioned promethean spirit into fragments of Sisyphean existential trends, post modern relativism and political theories concerning how can we achieve justice and feminism in multicultural societies.
