The course will highlight the historical status of Islamic philosophy and connects it with the tradition of Greek philosophy, which preceded it, and its contribution to the Western philosophy which succeeded it.
During the course, students will be acquainted with the most prominent philosophers, their major doctrines, the questions that concerned them and the most important ones of their writings. Furthermore, the students will be exposed to the special terminology of the Islamic philosophy and read the relevant literature.
Course requirements: Participation in meetings and examination at the end of the semester.
