The class is an introduction to the history of ancient Greece in Archaic and Classical times

 

ms. Sarit stern

The course will focus on the history and historiography of ancient Greece during the Archaic and the Classical periods (8th-4th centuries BCE), focusing on topics such as: Homer and Greek religion, the rise of the polis, the Greek aristocracy and the tyrants, the development of the Athenian democracy, the Greek colonization over the Mediterranean, the Persian Wars, the Peloponnesian War.
