Course description

Dialogue is a fundamental tool for the exploration of ideas and the development of philosophical identity. There are various styles of philosophical dialogue, given different philosophical presuppositions. Among the latter are conjectures fundamental to the discussion regarding the role of philosophy as a field investigating reality.
Against this background the seminar operates as a workshop in which the dialogue is serving for the inquiry of philosophical questions. These questions come up in the context of everyday life as well as the philosophical corpus. Participants are invited to present philosophical problems emerging in everyday life, and the philosophical corpus is the 20th century's: the work of Agassi, Bartley, Buber, Feyerabend, Habermas, Polanyi, Popper, and Russell.
Participants are guided about principles of research methodology in the Humanities, and present selected papers of the above mentioned philosophers. In so doing, we gain the opportunity to learn about the participants' philosophical concerns and presuppositions.
A special attention will be given to the implications of philosophical choices on lifestyle and identity
