Feminist Theories
This course will survey feminist legal thought, paying attention to the ways different feminist ideas did or did not become operationalized as law that actually governs. We will discuss the rise and fall of feminist ideas; competing theoretical frames and ongoing contests among different feminist worldviews; and modes of transmitting feminist ideas from between national, regional, and international systems. The course will focus on Israeli law and society and will look at main areas of feminist intervention such as domestic and sexual violence, workplace discrimination, household division of labor, religious law and marriage and divorce, women in politics and in the military, care work, sex work, and human trafficking.
