Course description
Public International Law
This course is a basic course in Public International Law. As such, it addresses the general framework of public international law, with special emphasis on issues of key importance to the contemporary international community, as well as to the public and legal discourse in Israel. Among other issues, the course addresses the general characteristics of international law in light of historical trends and jurisprudential development; the sources of international law and its basic principles; and the interaction between international law and domestic law, both generally and specifically in the Israeli context. It furthermore surveys the key international-legal actors – namely states, international organizations and tribunals – and explores basic issues in areas such as the law on the use of force, international humanitarian and criminal law and international human rights law.
