Constitutional Law – Prof. Aeyal Gross
Constitutional Law deals with the basic structure of the government in the state by creating the institutional structure and defining the protection of human rights. The first part of the course will be dedicated to learning the institutions of government and the relations between them. The second will be dedicated to learning the protection of human rights by constitutional law. Throughout the course we will examine these issues and look at various tension within Israeli constitutional law, such as the tension between formal and constitutional democracy, between democracy and the ethnic nature of the state, and between democracy and emergency and warfare.
