Course description
The course, will offer an introduction to philosophical questions about the nature of the mind (mental processes). We start with the Mind/brain relation and the dominant theory (both in Psychology and in Philosophy of Mind): functionalism. We then examine difficulties for functionalism in accounting for consciousness (qualia problem, inverted spectrum, etc). We then discuss the nature of mental representations (Language of Thought theory vs connectionism).  Finally we will end with the issues of in philosophy of action, free will and moral responsibility.
