Course description

The course main aim is to introduce the fundamental elements of the stage mechanism, and the modes by which these elements are structured to form the artistic properties of theatre or dance. Dance and theatre are distinct media yet they share fundamental principles that springs from the stage apparatus and its frame of expression. At the beginning of the course we will consider the fundamental principles of stage expression, which are shared by theatre and dance. Then we will focus on each medium and study its distinctive artistic form. At the course's final part, we will address genres that breaks the boundaries and merge dance and theatre such as performance art and dance-theatre.
