Course description
Between time and space: the new mobilities paradigm
Transportation and human movement in space and time has always been at the core of human geography. The course will focus on what is now known as "the new mobilities paradigm", an emerging sub-discipline that investigates the movement of humans, goods, and ideas, while emphasizing the ways in which those movements shape social relations, create identities, and are integrated in the geographies of the everyday. It is a flexible geography, moving within a great variety of scales – from global immigration to walking in the city center – while combining qualitative, quantitative and interpretive methodologies.
