Course description
The course surveys the geographical, economic, demographic and political characteristics of the Middle East. Special attention will be paid to selected regional issues such as the region carrying capacity, economic dimensions of oil, population diversity (ethnicity, religion), the phenomenon of nationalism as it affected the modern Middle East, and the roots of the current region's underdevelopment.
