Course description
Readings in Maimonides' Guide of the Perplexed (part B)
This course aims to give students a basic knowledge of Maimonides' "Guide of the Perplexed," as a classic work of Jewish philosophical theology. Classes will engage in a careful reading of the text in its Hebrew translation by Samuel In Tibbon. The course will be thematic in character moving from issues of hermeneutics and interpretation to questions of political theology in the first semester and then move to an intensive discussion of the theology of the Guide in the second.
