Language change: processes of constructions formation and consequences

The seminar aims to discuss the systematic development of constructions in language in light of the most recent theories of language change. An analysis of these constructions will examine the relationship between synchronic - diachronic aspects. Topics to be discussed are of main interest in current linguistic research and will be demonstrated by test cases from a variety of languages: different definitions of construction grammar, the relationship between syntax and semantics in construction grammar, the relation between construction grammar and grammaticalization, scalarity, analogy, metaphors, embodiment, and bilingualism.
