Course description

This seminar will follow Foucault to move from time to space, but, pointing to the lack of an apparatus of creating meaning in space, will offer the gaze as such an apparatus. The seminar will study issues of public and private space; gendered history, gendered space; visual culture; gendering the gaze, and issues of change, responsibility, and conflict resolution. The seminar will include theoretical, literary, cinematic, photographic and visual art texts.
