Course description
The course focuses on the poetic and theoretical tradition which views lyrical poetry as a socially symbolic act, deeply involved in public discourse and the ethical and political worldviews of a given society. We will read key theoretical works ranging from Aristotle to Kenneth Burke, as well as Hebrew poetry, medieval and modern alike.
