Shaul Tchernichovsky is one of the most fascinating and enigmatic literary figures of Modern Hebrew Poetry. In this seminar we will examine in detail the affinity between nature and erotic love in his poems. Throughout, we will address issues of rhetoric, gender, and nationality, and compare his poetical patterns and ideas to other poets of his period, especially to the most prominent among them H.N. Bialik.
