THE HISTORIAN'S CRAFT
An introduction to graduate-level study in Jewish history, required of beginning M.A. students, with 3 primary emphases: (1) milestones in the history of Jewish historiography; conceptions of the field in recent decades; Jewish history and the post-modern historian; (2) bibliographical competence: journals and reference tools; guidance in the execution of a comprehensive literature search; the use of research libraries, databases, and internet research tools; (3)
strategies for conceptualizing research programs; guidance in planning seminar papers and master’s theses; interacting with the Department of Jewish History and its faculty.
