Course description
Sabbateanism: From Shabtai Zvi and Nathan of Gaza
Shabbatai Zvi (1626-1676) and Nathan of Gaza (1643-1680) established and planted, through their actions and writings, the poles of the most stormy messianic movement in the Jewish history of the early modern era. In this seminar we will follow the emergence of Sabbateanism in the seventeenth century as reflected in the views of its central figures.
