Course description
Israel: the Early Years History and Historiography
The course explores some of the major problems Israel and its inhabitants were facing during the early days of statehood. The purpose of the course is to introduce the backstage craft of historical research: from searching for archival materials and the careful evaluation of preliminary sources to the comparative reading of historical accounts The course will cover a diverse set of issues from policymakers debating over security and foreign policy matters to ordinary citizens struggling to find solutions to their personal problems.
