Course description
Israel 1956-1967: an Introduction
The course explores the main events, the key political figures and the main problems Israel faced during this formative period. We will discuss the challenges faced by Israel’s policy makers in regard to security problems, economic achievements and failures and some key social problems. The course will also address briefly some key events which both reflected and had impact over hegemonic culture and collective identity. The course aims at exposing both the world view of the policy makers and that of ordinary citizens.
