Course description

The seminar has two major parts. The first part is devoted to new, updated studies recently published on lithic technology. We will concentrate on major breakthroughs and leading studies that have the potential of making a substantial contribution to our understanding of human evolution and prehistory. As an MA seminar it will be based on students' readings and presentation and their active participation in class discussion.

The second part is about flint procurement and will include a few class meetings to discuss quarry sites of the Neolithic period in the region and a field campus in a Neolithic quarry site in southern Israel. Course grade will be based on a seminar paper submitted by the student.
