The seminar will discuss central themes of LBA Canaan, such as the regional context of Egyptian imperial control and its expression in local archaeological phenomena, cultural syncretism in the Eastern Mediterranean, the cultural mosaic of Canaan itself and the internal social tensions in Cannanite society. We will also attempt to determine when the period, in fact, begins, and especially when it ends.
