This course will be based on Arabic texts from the Quran and the Tafsir sources, which will be compared with biblical and midrashic texts, and analyzed in the light of modern research. The texts will revolve around Eretz Israel (the Holy Land) and Arabia, and will help us trace the history of the status of these regions, including precincts within them, through the ages. These texts will also shed light on the position of the People of Israel in the eyes of the Muslims.
