Electrophysiology in language research
Aya Meltzer-Asscher
In this course we will get acquainted with electrophysiological research of language processing. The course begins with an introduction of the term 'ERP component'. It continues with discussion of the different components claimed to reflect different linguistic processes. Special attention will be given to the N400 component, which was vastly studied in the last 35 years. In the final paper, students will get a chance to perform independent ERP research.
Requirements: reading, final paper
Prerequisites: beginner's syntax, psycholinguistics: research methods and experimental design
