In this course we will focus on the poetics of science fiction (SF) as a distinctive and creative genre of literary production. We will consider the theoretical works by Darko Suvin, Istvan Csicsery-Ronay, Seo-Young Chu and others that define SF poetics. We will read a selection of representative texts and try our hands at writing SF and analyzing our own productions in the light of theoretical paradigms.

A detailed syllabus will be posted before the beginning of the semester.

Requirements: class participation, several writing exercises, the final assignment.
