Course description
The first part of the seminar will focus on questions to do with the nature of individual human action. For example, are all acts voluntary? What distinguishes intentional from non-intentional acts? Do we always act to achieve what we perceive to be good? How should we understand cases of weakness of will? And so on. The second part of the seminar will build on the insights gained in the first part to shed light on the nature of collective action. We shall investigate the similarities and differences between individual and collective action, and ask when is it correct to say of us that we are acting together.
