Course description
The seminar is dedicated to a close reading of Spinoza's Ethics. We will discuss Spinoza's metaphysical and epistemological principles as well as his moral psychology and ethics. A special emphasis will be placed on Spinoza’s doctrine of the eternity of the mind as the highest goal attainable in this life and his enigmatic notion of “experience of eternity.”
