Course description
The course presents some of the prominent Indian philosophical schools through their engagement with several fundamental debates in epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of mind and philosophy of language. These revolve around, among other issues, the possibility of radical skepticism, of the existence of an enduring essential self or of an external world, and the meaning of human suffering;m discussed in the works of the Nyāya, Mīmāmsā, Advaita Vedānta, Sānkhya and the Buddhist Madhyamaka and Yogācāra schools.
