Course description
Law and Affordable Housing – Dr. Alon Gildin
Affordable housing became a common phrase in the Israeli public discussion starting 2011, when an imminent social protest took over the Israeli street. Although the phrase Affordable Housing was fairly unknown till recently, it forms, over the last decades, an important part in most countries' social policy (with various differences in terms of purposes and executing).
Over the past few years Affordable Housing has gone through significant changes in many western countries, and initial signs of these changes are recognizable in Israel as well.
The essentiality of models of Affordable Housing in the western countries' social-economic policy caused a significant interaction with the law in various fields.
This course will deal with the interaction between Affordable Housing and the judicial system. We will engage in the source of duty to assure Affordable Housing, in judicial enforcement of Affordable Housing, in the use of law as a designer of public space, the use of law to assure social well fare and distributive justice, in designing the regulating norms of Affordable Housing and more.
The course will focus on theoretical judiciary aspects of Affordable Housing as well as on the legal practical aspects of it, in Israel and abroad.
