Course description
The course will be devoted to the history of water. We will discuss the way water was obtain, transferred, kept and utilized. A focus will be given to the technologies involved, commencing with the Neolithic well at ‘Atilt to the Iron Age cistern, Hellenistic fountain houses to Roman Nymphaea. The course will further explore water transformation systems throughout history and will examine both the ritual and secular usage of water and the recently discussed correlation between climate and the culture of abundance.
