Course description
What is the functional role of conscious experience? Is the latter necessary for cognitive processes, or only accompanies them? One of the prominent claims in the field holds that consciousness is needed for semantic integration processes, which require broad sharing of information and interactive processing shared by many areas in the brain. In the seminar we will examine this claim, and focus on consciousness’ involvement in high-level semantic integration of objects and scenes.
