The course discusses utopia as a central tool in visioning places and cities in architecture and planning. It discusses the power of the imagined and the utopian as a method that challenges existing reality and generates a new social awareness. The sections of the course includes: 1. Utopian perspectives: Marxists, architectural/planning, feminist, post-structural; 2. Utopia in planning and architecture; 3. Debating utopia: critical perspectives? 4. Utopia as a methodology in thinking and visioning practice.
