Course description

The course will present research methods in different disciplines and in architecture specifically, in order to create the grounds to conduct a research in the program. Since architecture is a multi disciplinary discipline, several research methods were developed along the years. In the course, we will examine several methods, among others: empirical-quantitative method, analytical-qualitative method, critical-theoretical method, comparative analysis method, and applicative method. In the course, we will discuss the ways in which these methods were developed in various disciplines and will examine their relevance for architecture. Among other, we will examine the following disciplines: art history, history of Architecture, critical theory, engineering, sociology, psychology and psychoanalysis and geography. Guest lecturers will present in the course the various methods they have used in their respective researches.
