Course description
This is the final year in which each student will work on one project, demonstrating abilities and knowledge based on previous studies. At the beginning of the year each student will select a project and demonstrate its rational and its scope. The scope of the project should be approved by the tutor. Each student will have to deal with design issues that range from urban design to the individual building scale including detailed design, construction and building systems. The scope of the work is not necessarily a reflection of the project’s size but, rather, itslevel of complexity and detail. As in the fourth year, the work should include an analysis of the surrounding environment – history, existing plans, future plans, existing and requested land uses, transportation systems and urban contexts. All these will be summarized in a clearly written document , including conclusions that should inform the detailed design. In the next stage the project will be designed demonstrating architectural-language and graphical skills in the urban as well as in the building scale. During the semester there will be interim presentations, when in each presentation a written evaluation will be supplied to the student, including recommendations for the next stage. At the end there will be a special presentation for "final-presentation approval" which will be held in front of the tutors and an external jury committee, as detailed in the university catalogue.
