The course will review theories and ideas in urban development, with emphasize on urban morphology theories related to urban architecture in the 20th century. The course will review theories and case studies of urban planning and urban dynamics (e.g. in land usage and spatial organization of the city) in Israel and around the world. We will review modern urban theories and compare then to the actual planning. Additionally, recent theories which describe cities as complex systems with self organizing characteristics will be introduced.
