Course description

This course examines the theory and design of architecture and urbanism during the twentieth century. It explores the modern movement in Europe and the United States and its global diffusion during the postwar period. The course explores the assimilation of technology into architectural culture, as well as its dialogue with history and precedents. While the course addresses general developments in the history, theory and criticism of modern architecture, it examines closely the work and ideas of individual architects, as well as the anonymous, bureaucratic production of the everyday.
