Course description
Green architecture and sustainable design are hot trends and there is a growing consensus about the need to reduce negative environmental impacts of the built environment. Nevertheless this approach is often regarded as a unique professional niche concerned with applying new technologies. Such narrow perception of 'green architecture' dose not enables the radical change which is needed today. In this seminar we will develop a wider perception of 'green architecture' which looks for creating a sustainable way of living and better architecture in many aspects.

Recent years have witnessed some attempts to apply such an approach and as result there is a growing body of theoretical and practical knowledge. This body of knowledge will be at the center of the seminar as we will go deeper into central issues which green architects are facing today.

During the seminar we will reed together some of the influential writings in this area and analyze some of the most interesting projects of recent years. we will also have the opportunity to hear from Israeli experts about their work. A particular attention will be devoted to applications of sustainable architecture approach in Israel.
