The course is designed as an introduction to the understanding of building technology and production. The course is composed of a series of lectures: on various aspects of building methods, structural concepts, materials and detailing. The intention is to develop an understanding of building components, structure' envelope and materials as an integral part of the design process: a process which requires consideration of the nature of materials, the production and manufacturing processes, the potential and limitation of the craftsmen and the environmental implications of the materials. The course will be followed by an exam based on the material taught in the lectures and included in the bibliography.
