Course description
According to the American philosopher A. Danto, in his foundational article "The Artworld:" "to see something as art requires [..] an atmosphere of artistic theory, a knowledge of the history of art [...]" (1964). The aim of the course is to give an overview of the relationships between the development of arts in Western culture and two distinct though overlapping fields, i.e. aesthetics and philosophy of art.
