Short Course Description
This second-year pro-seminar introduces prominent approaches to film theory since the 1970's such as psychoanalysis, apparatus theory, feminism and gender and cognitive theory. Classes will include a discussion of each approach through analytical and critical readings of key texts. Students will be required to engage in regular intensive reading of demanding theoretical texts, actively take part in class discussion, hand in two papers during the term, and submit a final research paper using theoretical approaches and films selected by the course instructor.
Full syllabus will be available to registered students only
