In recent decades opera has undergone radical changes in the ways we conceive of and experience it. Distinctions between a live and mediated performance have been blurred erecting new modes of listening, "liveness" and reception. In the seminar we will explore modes of mediation, the place of technology, notions of performativity and interactivity and how these alter what voice, body, performer, space and audience signify.
