Course description
The course deals with the music of the great composer Igor Stravinsky in the historical and stylistical context of the XX-th century. The traditions of Russian music and the new usage of the Russian folklore made Stravinsky one of the outstanding innovators of modern music.
There are three different periods in Stravinsky’s creative life: Russian, Neoclassical and Modern. The course will focus on all genres (opera, ballet, instrumental and sacred music) regarding the evolution of style.
