Course description
The study of Jewish composers and the influence of their heritage on music and history.  Composers to be examined include Giacomo Meyerbeer, Felix Mendelssohn, Gustav Mahler, Leonard Bernstein, Arnold Schoenberg, Darius Milhaud, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, Milton Babbitt, Steve Reich and Phillip Glass.  Students will be introduced to music through guided listening, music analysis, reading, live performance and presentation.
