Course description
Study of the composers and musical developments in American Music of the 20th century.
Students will be introduced to music through guided listening, music analysis, reading, class performances and presentations.
Composers including:
Charles Ives, Henry Cowell, George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, John Cage, Elliot Carter, Samuel Barber Leonard Bernstein, George Crumb, Steve Reich, Phillip Glass and Milton Babbitt will be covered.
